Made with love in Mount Laurel, NJ.
What started as an experimental style during my first year as an art student at Rowan University has completely transformed into a staple technique of mine. I have always had an affinity for animals, much like I have always loved doing art. With some motivation from friends, family, and professors, I was able to transform my hobby into work as a freelance artist, drawing cats and dogs in the unique, swirly style that I often practiced in school.
Contrary to public opinion, I do draw more than just cats and dogs. While they are a specialty, given the vast majority of people own either one or the other, I am more than willing to draw your sassy snake, rowdy rabbit, or handsome hedgehog. Whatever animal you have at home is welcome and encouraged!
The process starts when you reach out to me regarding your commission. I have ready-made portraits available at a cheaper price, which may suit you just fine! If I haven’t captured that one chip in your doberman’s ear, however, or the extra whisker above your cat’s left eye, then you can absolutely request a custom portrait.
Once you have requested a commission from me, I will ask you for three (3) things:
1) your desired size—I recommend 12” x 9” as I find this is large enough to capture fine details, but not too big that it takes up space. I am willing to go larger and smaller upon request!
2) a photograph(s) of your pet—I understand the struggle to get your pet to sit still for a picture, so I know that the drawing you want may not be easily captured with a camera lens, so if you provide me with a collection of pictures, I will try my best to get the exact portrait you desire.
3) your mailing address—once your portrait is complete and I have shown you the finished result, I will mount the drawing on a board, mat it with a black border, and wrap it in acetate (a clear covering that protects the drawing) and will ship it to you via USPS.
Please keep in mind that I am only one person and thus must take the time to give the proper care and attention to each and every drawing, so I appreciate your patience! I typically tell customers they will receive their portrait within 4 weeks (to account for drawing time and time spent in the post).
I am so thrilled to share my passion for art and animals with you! As a pet owner myself, I understand what it’s like to be absolutely obsessed with an animal. Anyone will tell you that their pet is the best~and no one is ever wrong.
